Workshops lasting 3-5 days and bringing together up to 40 specially qualified scientists from China and Germany in a specific field are the Sino-German Center's primary activity.

The Workshops aim to provide the stimulus for longer-term research co-operation in the shape of bilateral projects between participants.

The Workshops, for which the Center is ideally equipped, but which may also take place elsewhere in China or Germany, are proposed and organized by a Chinese and a German co-ordinator, who apply to the Center for funding.

The Center can also place its meeting facilities at the disposal of other organizations as a venue for Sino-German scientific meetings.
