Co-organized by Tim Schaefer (University of Göttingen) and Chuanyao Zhou (Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics), the 2nd German-Chinese Young Scientist Symposium on Structures and Dynamics at Surfaces took place in Göttingen from May 28th until June 1st. In total 42 scientists from Germany, China and the United States participated at the Symposium.
After reception on Sunday night with address from Prof. Lesheng Chen and talks from Prof. Wodtke and Prof. Auerbach, talks on current research in German and Chinese labs of young scientists took place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. In coffee breaks, at lunch and at dinner, hot topics presented in the talks were discussed.
On Wednesday, the Symposium attendees went for an excursion day to Göttingen and to the nearby UNESCO world heritage “Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe” in Kassel. In this very informal atmosphere the scientists from Germany and China got to know each other even better and discussed possible collaborations. (By Tim and Chuanyao)
